Working From Home Mom Life
Do you remember that class clown in school that was always trying to make you laugh and get you in trouble?
That’s my daughter, Ylvie.
These are photos taken during a meeting. It happened to be a very serious toned meeting, but I had my camera off because of this jokester.
I work for a company, Booz Allen Hamilton, that empowers working moms. Ylvie is a part of a lot of my meetings. She even tries to vote during Sprint Planning.
The company I worked for before Booz Allen wasn’t as accepting. The CEO told me straight up that I wouldn’t get a raise or promotion because of my “family situation.” My family situation is that I’m a single mother of a child with multiple health issues. At that time, Ylvie was still in and out of the hospital frequently.
While working for this company, I applied to my dream job, Booz Allen. It has seriously been a dream for me.
When Ylvie had her third open heart surgery, the firm was very accommodating to our situation. I’ve even received raises and promotions despite my “family situation.”
Forbes named Booz Allen as the number one employer for women in 2021.

I owe a big part of my joy in being a single work from home homeschooling mom to my company. I hope that if you are in a work situation that doesn’t value you as a working mother, you find a place that will!
